Atoma diamond plates are conveniently sized 210mm 8 1 4 long x 75mm 2 13 16 wide the atoma diamond plates are a great size with plenty of surface area for use as sharpening stones or as lapping plates for flattening other stones.

This construction makes the plates durable rust resistant and reliable for lapping.
140 for fast material removal 400 for creating a primary bevel and 1200 for final honing.
It s not as fast as the 140 but doesn t put deep scratches like the 140 does.
It flattens very quickly faster than the shapton diamond lapping plate and has shown no sign of wearing.
Atoma diamond plates come in three grits.
Because the diamonds are arranged in a dot pattern rather than a continuous surface there is less tendency for them to stick to the stones when lapping.
The 400x is suitable for fast lapping truing water stones or shaping a primary bevel.
It will lap sharpening stones with ease and in less than 1 minute it will flatten stones like shaptons or choseras.
Much like the atoma 140 the 400 is very coarse.
These plates are made of mono crystalline diamonds as the abrasive surface on stainless steel body made of 10mm think machined aluminium plate.
This particular coarse is a little more coarse than i usually need for sharpening purposes but i would imagine the higher coarse atoma stones will perform very well.
The 140x is for rapid material removal.
It made quick work of lapping japanese natural stones too.
The atoma plates work really well for lapping stones and doing initial bevel setting as well as repair work on your knives.
The 1200x can be used for fine lapping or general sharpening and leaves a toothed edge on kitchen knives.
The micron equivalents are 100 45 and 15 respectively the plates are generously sized at 3 x 8 1 4 so they ll easily handle your largest plane blades.
